Khawanda jameeyat ye krai badal pa praishaanee

Har cha che jameeyat kralo praishaan da pukhtano

King Zahir Shah passed away a few days ago. Of course when I heard the news, warta may dua wokra. Khudai day wobakhee mong tolo musalmanano sara. But since he once was a King and now was “da melat Baba” i can’t help but to discuss something very important about my melat, the melat that he was supposedly baba to. I know it is not right to talk about those who have crossed to the other side, but I feel if someone is or was in a position that he was in, then we have to and we need to discuss the good and the bad deeds of that person. So it will be a lesson for those of us living and for those in the future.

I am not even going to ask what King Zahir Shah did for our melat and our beloved language. Because I know the answer is not a pretty one. Forget about him serving his mother tangue, forget about him speaking in his mother tangue, forget about him promoting his mother tangue, forget about him loving and respecting his mother tangue. What kills me is the damages he and his royal family did to this innocent and beautiful language. It was during this era that pashtu started disappearing from the mainstream media, it was during this era that everyone who worked for the government started speaking in farsi. It was during this era that most schools started teaching subjects in farsi. It was during this era that pashtu kept getting kicked and looked down upon. ufffff no tsa wowayama, the list is long….aw da bada murgha, all these abuses to pakhtu stayed even when the King was no more the King. Cause parsos had gotten used to this new superiority and pakhtuns had lost thier ghairat to do anything about it..till recently of course, and now that we have revolted and now that we have declared che no more zulim to our beautiful langage, we are labled fascists. Well if loving my language, a language that is the language of the majority of my country, and promoting and respecting my language makes me a fascist, then hey i am guilty as charged and proud of it.

And the fools who gave him the title of “da melat baba”. Which melat are they talking about? Our melat? da Afghan melat? da Pakhtun melat? Yaw baba tsenga khpal da bachayo pa zheba na pohegee. Da kho daira ajeba khabera da che plaar/baba parso waye aw bachyan ye pakhtu.

There were some ppl who cried when they found out the King was dead.

So the story goes……

There was a king who had two tiny little horns. No one knew of his horns cuz he had managed to keep it a secret by killing anyone who found out about it. Who were the poor souls who met thier demise through this ugly secret? damaan. Every time the kind would get a hair cut, he would kill the barbar. No matter how much they would beg or plead, the king just could not trust them since it was a well known fact that damaan are one of those ppl who could not keep secrets. They would tell the darkest of their clients secrets to the other clients. So that is why this king would kill the barber who had just given him a hair cut.

One day one smart and chalaak barbar upon discovering the Kings horns and knowing of his fate, started begging the king to spare him his life. He pleaded and pleaded and promised the king that he would not disclose this royal secret. The king who must have been in a week state of mind agreed with him and told him that he will not kill him. But there was a condition attached to it. King told the barbar to leave the city and live the rest of his life in a desert.

So the barbar said goodbye to his family and loved ones and headed towards the desert to live out the rest of his miserable life. For a few days he was OK., but slowly this secret was bugging him. He felt the urgent need to share it with someone. He knew he could not share it with a human being since that would mean his death. So as he was wandering around, he noticed a well. He walked towards the well and stuck his head inside the well and started screeming “the king has horns, the kind has horns”. To his surprise, he felt very relieved and a big load was taken off his shoulder. Within a few weeks, a reed plant grew inside the well and started growing. In a few more days the reed plant was sticking out of the well long, straight and tall. As this reed is famous for making flutes, it (the reed in the well ) started singing a song. The song was “the king has horns, the king has horns”. Passerbys heard the song and before you know it, the whole city knew of this dark secret. Of course the king killed the barbar, but it was too late.

The Moral of the story, do not tell or share something about someone else to anyone unless you are prepared that it will get to that person. Cause you can’t tell a dam from not-dam amongst us.
